About

I obtained my doctoral research from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, since then have been working in the development sector – nearly two and half decades of working experience at the grassroots, national and international levels. While progressing from grassroots to holding a position at the International office of ActionAid, I have gained wider experiences of working on issues of poverty, development, and human rights. Having begun my journey in India with UNDCP and then Oxfam, my assignments with ActionAid helped me gain in-depth knowledge, and skill in leading and managing as well as interacting with several constituencies – across many cultures and socio-political diversities.

Currently, working as Asia Regional Head for ActionAid International, I manage and support ActionAid country programme operations in the Asia region. Prior to this role, I led/managed ActionAid’s global strategy review process, coordinating with 45 countries. As part of my various roles and responsibilities, I engage in leading, facilitating and reviewing various country strategy review and development processes. Also, led, managed large-scale programmes, including humanitarian response programmes. I significantly contributed to programme conceptualizing/designing, evidence-based analysis, policy research/advocacy/campaigning, monitoring & evaluation, organisation health assessment and risk management. I worked with platforms/social movements/academia. Also, led/managed fundraising sections; mobilised huge grants from institutions/corporates/major donors. I have had the experiences of organisation nationalisation processes, like local registration, Board and General Assembly formations.

I have extensive management experience of human resources, performance management in a large, complex and decentralised organisation – led large and diverse teams and facilitated smooth transition/change management processes. Played a key role being part of several internal committees and have been on the advisory board of various institutions.
